Build for nonprofits
We pair college students across North Carolina with nonprofits that need software and cannot hire a developer. If you can build but cannot find a project worth your time, that is the gap we fill.
Who we are looking for
Students at any North Carolina college or university who can build and finish things. You do not need a long resume or a specific major. Show us something you have made, even if it is small or unfinished.
It helps if you have worked with web apps, databases, or dashboards, but we care more about whether you follow through and can explain your work to someone who is not technical.
Tell us what you can do and we will match you with a project at your level, from a first real build to something a whole organization runs on.
What you would work on
Real projects for real organizations: check-in kiosks, dashboards, websites, and internal tools that staff use every day. You would talk with the nonprofit, build the thing, and see it go live.
What to expect
Projects run a few weeks to a semester. Expect a handful of hours a week, agreed up front around your classes.
This is unpaid volunteer work. Join us in getting useful software to the charities doing the most good.
You finish with software that is live, a nonprofit that will vouch for you, and experience talking to a client.
How to apply
Send us a short note: your school, year, and major, anything you have built (a link is perfect), and what you would like to work on. There is no form to fill out beyond that.
Or email us directly at impactosnc@gmail.com.
We read everything and reply by email, whether or not there is a project open right now.
